Global Midwives

The practice of midwifery is as old as civilization itself. Midwifery is evidence of women’s culture and the beloved communities they built and sustained with each other.

About the Event

Join our Facilitator: Sevonna Brown as she discusses with midwives the preservation of the tradition of midwifery.

What would it mean for midwives from across the world to be in conversation with each other about birthing practices, the miracle that it is. What birth reveals about life itself and what is needed across the globe for women. Midwives in conversation will place midwifery within cultural and political contexts and talk about how they do not see themselves separate from these contexts.  Spirituality is the metronome of midwifery. It is how they listen. It is how they make calculation and determination and it is how they make a call in life or death scenarios. As we midwife moments, movements and new life, we gather in the name of this life cycle and in these times of crisis.
